The Wolf Laurel Historical Society was founded in 1994 by residents of the Wolf Laurel Community interested in history as a reading and study area. Members meet once a year to conduct the Society's business and three times a year for public programs featuring the history of the Wolf Laurel Community, the Upper Laurel and Bucktown Communities, Madison and Yancey Counties, the Southern Appalachian mountain region of Tennessee and North Carolina, and other subjects of general interest.

We welcome you to our public events and urge you to join the society as we enjoy together the rich history of our beautiful mountains.

2024 Program Schedule is out

The program schedule for summer 2024 is now ready.  We have some wonderful programs to celebrate this, Wolf Laurel's Diamond Jubilee year.  See our Events Calendar on the menu to the left for updates.  All our programs are free to the public.  2024 Memberships are now available and we urge you to join the Society to help support the expenses of our programs and other efforts. See Membership Information on the menu to the left.

If you are new to Wolf Laurel or just need some reading for the long winter nights, the Historical Society offers these histories of our community.
